Over the years, scientists have conducted continual testing of water sources nationally but their results have been lobbied against by economically motivated companies and strangely, ordinary civilians who think it's a sham to raise water rates.
In our home, we use a filter in the water dispenser. Though I wonder how much chemicals are removed. Yes, there is a bottled spring water option but I loathe having to spend extra money. I mean what's the point of paying for safe drinking water when all one can use for it is bathing and laundry? If you think about it, even washing dishes with tap water seem like a ticking time bomb.
On this track, how safe is drinking water in Singapore? I know we are always told it's one of the safest in the world but how safe is safe? What are the guidelines, what's filtered out, what's poured in? No one thinks to question and with perhaps 80%, 90% of the population subsisting on tap water, won't you want to know? It would be interesting, not to mention reassuring.

This is such a ridiculous idea. Why would anyone pay 99 Euros a night to eat hamster grain (terrible food), run in a giant wheel (exercise on vacation?) and sleep in hay stacks (uncomfortable lodgings)?
Incentive to visit US? The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens in Orlando in spring 2010 which is March to May 2010. Just in time for summer crowds. I have to say though I'm surprised that there are only 3 rides. I'm NO fan of roller-coasters but I imagine that's what most people go for at a theme park.
Anyhow I've never been to Florida and this is one more incentive for me to make a trip!

Teens in Singapore don't really do anything unique for prom. Take a cue from these 2 British ladies who dolled up and put themselves in homemade Barbie boxes. Talk about arriving in style.
1. The ship was carrying food aid bound for Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda.
2. The captain told his crew to hide while he sacrificed himself as a hostage.
As negotiations grew tense, one pirate pointed an AK-47 at the Captain's back, prompting US Navy to shoot the pirates dead. This is what other pirates had to say about the incident.
Abdullahi Lami, one of the pirates holding the Greek ship anchored in the Somali town of Gaan, said: "Every country will be treated the way it treats us. In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," he told The Associated Press. "We will retaliate (for) the killings of our men."
Killing of your men? How about you stop attacking, kidnapping, robbing and killing the rest of us? Currently pirates hold more than a dozen ships with about 230 foreign sailors. By their principles, that gives countries of kidnapped sailors the right to rescue, defend and kill. If you don't want your men to be killed, stop pirating.
Jamac Habeb, a 30-year-old self-proclaimed pirate, told the AP from one of Somalia's piracy hubs, Eyl, that: "From now on, if we capture foreign ships and their respective countries try to attack us, we will kill them (the hostages). Now they became our number one enemy," Habeb said of U.S. forces.
Self-proclaimed pirate? Meaning he hasn't robbed a ship yet. All very good except he is trying to get a job with an established pirate here.
People are just so screwed.
1) They speak to me softly in perfect English, then turn around and scream in Singlish to their friends.
2) They SMS with a speed and frequency that makes my own thumbs sore from sympathy pains.
3) They admit they are apathetic, and speak about it passionately.
4) They complain about the lack of culture on their school campuses, then immediately go back to studying.
5) They wear their emotions and intentions on their chests in the form of T-shirt sayings. A few of my favourites: 'Little Miss Giggles', 'I SMS Your Mum' and 'Are We Having Any Fun?'
6) They are extremely quiet in class, but downright chatty one-on-one.
7) They love David Beckham. They lust after George Clooney.
8) Apparently, procreation is not their forte. At this point in their lives, they could not care less.
9) Marriage is not yet on most of their minds. Instead, they say they want to keep getting red packets of some kind.
10) Romance is not an art many young males here have mastered. I recently overheard two young women complaining that their boyfriends had surprised them on Valentine's Day with gifts - a schoolbag and an external hard drive.
11) They are incredibly, falsely, modest. They know they rock. Just don't tell them to their face. They'll look at you like you insulted their mother.
12) They are way too polite. I asked a young woman to take my picture in front of the Merlion. After she snapped the shot, she thanked me - apparently for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to capture me on film.
13) Speaking of photos, they pose for them everywhere. I recently saw a group of students smile for multiple pictures with their taxi driver at Clarke Quay. He was smiling too. The meter was running.
14) A few engage in 'serious blogging', but most just blog about their friends and pets and upload pictures of last night's dinner.
15) They are very productive during classes - at catching up with friends on MSN Messenger and updating their Facebook status.
16) They remain sceptical of their country's growing global status, often asking me 'Why would you want to come here?'
17) They already express nostalgia for days gone by, at the ripe old age of 17.
18) The few young men who have long hair seem to be teased mercilessly by friends, and hit on frequently by strangers.
19) They catch catnaps at the most unlikely locations - bus stops, campus canteens, even the school library.
20) Their eyes have a tint of worldliness to them, especially the young men who have been through national service.
21) They passionately watched something called 'The Little Nyonya' until recently, but not all will admit it publicly.
22) They think it is funny that Singapore has a professional basketball team.
23) They love their parents, but they definitely do not tell them everything.
24) They love to dance ...
25) But it does not mean they have rhythm.

One of the best selling condom brands from China, it's not difficult to see why. For one, the name connotes images of romantic trysts rather than just safe sex. Then there is the picture of Beckham with a ferocious tiger draped across his shoulders. Can't be just any old dead tiger, so hats off to the makers for finding one that looked like it died from over-excitement in the mating process.
Lastly, these condoms claim to contain lesser lead and toxins. WOW. Most other condoms are only made from pure latex. The most important selling point is Beckham looking all seductive and virile. There is the small matter of him not endorsing any condom brands but the manufacturers probably know that men in heat don't care.
With the success of Long Love, it's no surprise that Beckham goes on to endorse anti-impotence drug, USA Selikon. The same drug that helps Sean Connery remain James Bond forever and surprises Keanu Reeves' girlfriend in a good way. Some men in Singapore would be ecstatic at the news. Again, none of the celebrities mentioned have endorsed USA Selikon but this seems to be a moot point in the maker's mind.
Kelly playing tour guide at the peak of Mount Jacinto.
My first time sliding down in a tobaggan. It's faster than the playground slide!
Second time's the charm. I went down smoother and much further.
Kelly's turn at the tobaggan. You can tell he's a professional because he keeps his legs in the tobbagan.
The dangers of tobaganning. A kid nearly collides into Kelly on the way down!
It was scary going downhill and worse when the tram jolted. You can see how bad it is here.

Sex and The City movie sequel is officially on. Pop the champagne? Not yet. Plotline is part 1 sucked big time and I don't really see what new 'sex' ground they can break in part 2. I am boycotting the movie if Carrie gets preggers, Samantha f*cked through the whole show, Miranda strays or Charlotte's life became all about kids.
Singapore doesn't lose out either. There is a new flavour in town called Roast lamb and mint, sold at Marketplace supermarkets.
Personally I would love to try Chilli and chocolate, and Crisy Duck. Would you try any of these?
Even if Palin had anything in depth to say, having an abattoir as background is insane. The interview felt more like a macabre movie. Where you can't peel your eyes off the screen even if you are screaming inside. Her voice was static as I looked on disgustedly at the man shoving turkeys down the killing machine with blood everywhere. All I heard towards the end was "I will be in charge of the turkey"... "This is where I need to be to get it done"... I mean can't you schedule an interview and your visit to get fresh turkeys at different times?
There is nothing wrong with an abattoir. I am a meat-eating carnivore and am grateful someone out there can do this so I get meat on my plate. BUT I don't want to know the reality of it. I am happy and contented to know that cows are alive and meat are just meat. I don't want to think about how it happened. I believe most people are like me. SO WHY ON EARTH WOULD AN EX-VP CHOOSE TO GIVE AN INTERVIEW IN AN ABATTOIR? I am sure there are more ways to appeal to certain demographics in US. And you have more than those demographics to appeal to if you are going to run for president.
The age old riddle came to mind. How many PR firms does it take to turn Palin around?

Ok, that statement was entirely unture but the coin is real. The French Mint tapped on Karl Lagerfeld to design a limited edition five Euro coin to commemorate Coco Chanel's 125th birthday. On one side is the brand's signature quilt pattern and on the other is Mdm Chanel's head. Though the stamped value is five Euro, the gold and silver coins are expected to retail for far more. They go on sale Dec 1 with a price ranging from 45 Euros to 5,900 Euros.
Chanel gets no part of the proceeds but the marketing pays for itself.

Starting at the mid-wall with The Salon by Picasso, he gradually worked through the whole basement, getting his inspiration from great cultural figures. Step inside the room and you will see Sherlock Holmes interacting with Hercule Poirot, Winston Churchill lounging with Bernard Shawand of course Monet.
