Oh gosh, I feel so bad about the businesses badly affected by floods, the people living in those areas, people who are trapped on their way to and from work.

And since it's our own fault for clogging up the drains and the maker's fault for bringing down the torrential rains, we all need a little levity in this gloomy situation.

Bad Singlish exists but the worse crime lies in celebrating it. Once again, our exotic accent is displayed in its full splendor in US game, Just Cause 2. Watch it and tell me that you still feel pride in being a native English speaker. My mask of horror unfroze enough for me to chio dou peng (laugh till I fall). I'm not sure there are shards of the language left for us to butcher.

Comments from gaming forums:

"I love this game just her VA (Voice Acting) is just so terribad."

"It sounds to me like she should be reading fortunes over the phone."

"She should never be allowed to say 'people' 'comrade' or 'metal' ever again."

"I hate her voice. I hate her face. I also hate that manly walk she does to the chopper."

"I wanna rip out her vocal chords! Her accent is so damn annoying."

"Every time Bolo Santosi speaks I want to hit her voice actress with a brick."

"I die a little inside every time Bolo Santosi opens her f**king mouth. I still can't bring myself to skip cutscenes."

"That Bolo Santosi woman might actually be the worst voice I've ever heard in a videogame."

"What is the problem everyone seems to have with her? She has a heavy accent but it sounds reasonably exotic to me."

Ever ordered 大家好 and Clementi at a kopitiam? What?!?

Baffling and head scratching, yups, that's me. I couldn't decipher what they were from the names alone but once their origins were revealed, there is a sense of wonder at the Singaporean's ability to abbreviate so ingeniously. Embrassingly, I also learnt what Siu Dai is. In my defence, I usually just order Kopi-bing or Milo-bing!

Beauty and brains are definite criteria for a beauty pageant contestant. One would assume that in a Miss Singapore World contest, knowledge of Singapore's history and current affairs is also a basic criteria.

Nope. Embarassingly so, some of this year's contestants couldn't answer questions like when the Merlion became extinct, which shopping center just opened and how old Singapore is. Didn't we celebrate her birthday this month?

Diva - How well do they know Singapore?
My computer crashed a while back. After it recovered, I lost my motivation to blog. Wedding planning is consuming a lot of time. These were taken on my last night in Singapore. Lin and Lea fulfilled my wish of having prata at Jalan Kayu. Sweet girls!

I look like I had crawled out of bed... cos I just did! Haha!

My new favourite is condensed milk prata! Mmmmmm...
I saw this picture on Cute Boys website. These guys are supposedly a boyband from Singapore but I don't recognise them, do you?

I attended 3 weddings in the 1 month I was in Singapore and met up with as many babies for the first time.

C's baby develops amazingly fast and is amazingly obedient. Was very curious and didn't cry or whine through the whole dinner.

I need some tips here. How do you take clear pictures of active kids? I avoided using flash so as not to hurt the baby's eyes. But it's so hard to take good pics even when I was using my camera's 'kids' function. You can see how hard we were trying to get little N to look at the camera.

Rach's baby is soooooooooo cute! Big big eyes and adorable face!
Lea and Faith took leave to meet up with me, so happy!! We were at Dome cafe trying to imitate the cheesy poses that wedding photographers would make couples do.

So loving hor? btw, food at Dome cafe really really sucks.

I have some photos from my Singapore trip which I want to post before tackling my Japan trip picture. Pardon the blurry photos on this one, my camera doesn't work well with night scenes. This is the city view from Orgo, the rooftop bar at Esplanade.

There are big glass cubes (with aircon!) where you can sit in comfort but you need to spend a certain amount.

XY and moi.

V enjoying her margaritas.

Looks yummy right? The drink menu was concocted by renowned Japanese mixologist, Tomoyuki Kitazoe, and boasts of using only fresh natural ingredients. We chose some unusual ones such as plum and basil but were disappointed at how bland they tasted.

Hey! A surprise find while scouring a fashion blog. Oohtique, a boutique in Singapore that sells sex toys, sexy lingerie and hosts hen nights, recently launched a fun campaign with prints of various sex positions around the city. Anyone seen them?
we are told to be grateful for the small things.

But when something so big and wonderful comes along, one is completely bowled over. I am more than grateful, more than thankful, more than loved. I can only say 3 words to express how I feel.

I LOVE YOU!!!

Maria, thanks for supporting us! If I'm ever in Colorado again, I'll definitely look all of you up and treat you all to a good meal! Thank you for being so wonderful!

Karen, I always say this but it's never too much to say one more time. I always appreciate your words of wisdom and blessings. I feel very loved and know I can always rely on you for advice. Thank you!

Sabrina, how time flies! You are a wonderful mama, wife and colleague. That is something I have to learn from you! Thank you for your blessings, I hope to say this to you in person!

Erm Pat, why you like Charlie in Charlie's angels? Can hear voice, cannot see face. I heard something about a big big ang bao? You are giving me a big red packet? Thank you! And yes, I have learnt to cook. Teriyaki chicken. -_-

Simon, you remind me of a travel host on TV leh! Very professional! Thank you for your well wishes!

Chris, why you torture poor Loki? It was meowing pitifully, so sad! By the way, I don't know whether to think your ang moh bad or your Cheena bad. But thank you for your congratulations, corleek!

This is why I love my girlfriends! Muacks Muacks Muacks! Kelly, you have to do what they say okay? I got backing behind me... hee!

Faith-fu, for beautifully linking up all the little segments and creating a super touching vid. You didn't even get to be in front of the camera!!! But you did a pro job, thankew! Muacks!

Thank you for taking the time and effort to plan, create and be part of this video. I couldn't view the video in the package you all sent and only just got a new DVD from Lea. I'm sorry I took so long to see this video and really regret I didn't see it in LA. The feelings would be so different cos you are all so far away!!! Regardless, I'm still very very touched!!

V had a day off so we decided to go Cafe Brio for their 1-for-1 buffet lunch deal! Considering it was a Monday, it's surprisingly full house.

The selection was great and for someone who don't usually enjoy buffets, I really out-did myself. 3 plates of desserts!
China is not the only place that practises Chinglish, a mix of Chinese and English.

Taken at Partyworld, Shenton way.

THANK YOU to all of you for coming!!! The girl in red jersey is Simon's dughter, Megan. We had white pepper crab, chilli crab with fried buns, coffee ribs, No Signboard Tofu and Sambal Kangkong. The standard of their signature white pepper crab has dropped but tofu and coffee ribs were good, yums!

All the pretty girls! Thoughtful Shiawlin bought cupcakes all the way from Johor Bahru to celebrate Kaylor's birthday.

Kay's birthday is end of the month but we celebrate early for her!

Cute cupcakes! All the above photos taken by Simon, so you can see a marked difference in photo standard below. Hahaha!

We went to One on the Bund for drinks. This place used to be Clifford Pier but after renovations, it's a modern and very beautiful Chinese restaurant. Look at the curved walls, that's to block sounds from outside!

These were taken on another occasion in daylight. All the reviews I read said the food wasn't good. Anyone with an expense account, please try this place and let me know if the reviews are right!

Outdoor seating.

Look at the tables and chairs, so unique right? I want these in my house next time! You can see that they put a lot of effort into redesigning the place. If the food were good, I would definitely have my wedding dinner here!

Currently the view is not so great since the restaurant faces the construction of the Integrated Resort (IR).

And more construction.

The only nice view to the left of the restaurant with esplanade, flyer and more construction.
My friend is so darn sweet! Her birthday is months later but she decided to have an early celebration because I'm back for a month. Muacks!!!

Nope, my friend is not that little boy lah.

I also want a party at Mcdonald's! Growing up, I only went to people's birthdays at Mac's but didn't have my own. In fact, I have never had a big celebration, ever!

Happy Meals all round! Whee!!!

Cute little girl.

Erm, friends don't want to be in my blog.

My friend had a 'Back to the 90s' theme so I'm dressed like Donna from 90210. Tight dress, long jacket and ah lian booties. Those shoes always attract attention when I wear them. :p
Would you believe I've only bought 3 selfish things since I touched down? A $35 bag from Charles & Keith, a poof skirt and a pair of white ah lian booties. I wore all 3 out one day and felt like Beverly Hills ah lian. That can be my next blog title.

*pats me on the back*

After days of furtive internet using, I finally get to enjoy uninterrupted web surfing. Even though it's only for a night. WOO HOO!
Suddenly there's a shadow over my joy of homecoming.

Maybe, just maybe, things will lighten up when I'm back?

It's only been 2 days into the week and I've received 3 pieces of good news. 2 friends are engaged and 1 is preggers. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.
