iLane's Brain Pattern
|

Your mind is a firestorm - full of intensity and drama. Your thoughts may seem scattered to you most of the time. But they often seem strong and passionate to those around you. You are a natural influencer. The thoughts you share are very powerful and persuading. |
Kelly's Brain Pattern

|

You're a simple thinker, and this is actually a very good thing.
You don't complicate matters when you don't have to.
You look for the simplest explanation or solution, and you go with that.
As a result, your mind is uncluttered and free of stress.
|
And then we tried the Superhero Quiz and Kelly's power is Mind Reading.
How can he be simple-minded AND be a mind reader?
This one's deep I tell you. That's true power. *nods in reverence*
Kelly's Super Power
| Your Superpower Should Be Mind Reading |
You are brilliant, insightful, and intuitive. You understand people better than they would like to be understood. Highly sensitive, you are good at putting together seemingly irrelevant details. You figure out what's going on before anyone knows that anything is going on!
Why you would be a good superhero: You don't care what people think, and you'd do whatever needed to be done.
Your biggest problem as a superhero: Feeling even more isolated than you do now. |
iLane's Super Power
| Your Superpower Should Be Super Speed |
You're quick witted and fast to act. You're mind works at warp speed. From your perspective, everyone else is living in slow motion. You get so much done, people have accused you of not sleeping. Definitely not a couch potato, you feel a bit crazy if you're not busy doing something.
Why you would be a good superhero: You're be the first on the scene... and likely to finish the job before anyone else shows up
Your biggest problem as a superhero: Being bored by everyone else. Including other superheroes!

Notice the cartoon for mind-reading is a girl while the one for speed is a boy. Very telling of stereotypes. Had fun doing these bo liao quizzes cos the results are actually quite true!

USD54, hand-painted then hand-embroidered Only for the brave! These bold and eye-catching tights are sure to turn heads. Love the twirls on the peacock design and the bright pop of blue against black. To draw your eye further, designs only appear on one leg. Do you dare?

Unfortunately these are the only images I can save but now you know how much the shoes cost. And if you are wondering why they cost so much, that's because designer Henrietta Rose from the London College of Fashion makes them from vintage Japanese kimono fabric.
Now you know. These are
pretty pretty shoes anyway. Just in time for summer!

From May to August, households that reduce their energy consumption by 10% gets to participate in a lucky draw for a fuel-hybrid car.
1. Assuming there are 1 million households in Singapore and 5% of them reduce their energy consumption, that's still 1 in 50,000 of winning a car. Beats increasing utility prices when
daily life is on the rise. I second this gentler approach but why only one prize for so many households? I geddit it. It's a bonus but hardly a motivation ya? One thing in its favour though: Chances of winning this are still better than buying 4D.
2. How about rewarding households whose consumption are consistently lower than national average? My parents are great advocates of saving water and electricity. Not one light is turned on longer than it should be in my house and expect a barrage of words when it is. My parents come home from work at 3pm and are in bed by 9pm. They only watch TV for 3 hours a day and seldom turn on the aircon except to check that it's still working and extremely hot nights. How do you reward households like this?

Source Hairband made of antique lace stitched on satin ribbon and hand-sewn with freshwater pearls. When I saw this, my jaw dropped! It matches my wedding venue so perfectly. Unfortunately I don't have USD625 to fritter away. But it seems really easy to replicate. Hmmm..
SourceRight from the start, this has been the vision for my wedding. I just
heart birdcage veils and the accessory here. And since our wedding venue was completed in the 1920s, I am
very keen on incorporating 20s elements as well. Won't a flapper bride be
so cool? Alas, my
impulsive buy of a gown is more
Grace Kelly than
Clara Bow. I digress. As I was regaling K with my ideas, his face took on a mask of horror and he blurted out "But we don't want a period wedding!".
Well, I do.
SourceWe had just confirmed our wedding date with our restaurant and after we stepped out, the unit number caught our eye. It's our wedding date!
Sourcebrowsing through Felicia Chin's
blog today and learnt that Terence Cao has opened a hotpot restaurant at Paradiz Centre. I don't care for celebrity restaurants but I do care that they have wintermelon and sharks bone soup bases. Something different from the usual chicken or ma la soups. Most importantly, they are non-spicy which is great for me cos' much as I like the spicy kick of mala huo guo, 1 sip and I am downing glasses of ice water.
They also have some unique ingredients for dunking into hot soup like HK-style fried fish skin, sea urchin balls and 'char siew bao'. Felicia mentioned that she had a side dish of deep fried prawn balls with mango and cheese. What a yummy-sounding combination! and you can take off the heat with a home-brewed sugar cane payaya drink and my fav HK dessert - mango pomelo.
It all seems very promising. I am craving hotpot now. Can some kind soul try it and let me know if it's as good as it sounds? btw, pic above not taken at Terence's restaurant.

Since K & I inteng to get a mini daschund in future, we were thrilled to discover that there were monthly Daschund races in Spring. Of course we had to go! The races were held in Old World Village, modelled after a tiny German village, with a few restaurants and shops.

This is the race track! As you can see, it's not very long.

Familiarising his dog with the track.

To get a daschund to race, wave its favourite treat or toy in front of it. Then back down slowly to the finishing line and keep the treat or toy in its sight. Once the gates are lifted, they are run to you.

This little guy can't wait for the race to start!

and they aRE OFF!!!

The puppy races are held first and pup only do half-track. Most of them are first-timers and easily frightened or distracted by the crowds. Instead of running, they sometimes stall and refuse to move. When this happens, the owner has to coax it to go to them.

But coaxing does not always work. This scared puppy is making its way back to the start line instead.

When this happens, go to your puppy but
DO NOT pet or pick it up cos giving it affection is reinforcing its bad behaviour. Gently put puppy back on the track and lead it to the finish line.
REWARD IT then.

Proud owners and funny doggie names: Oliver Fishbag, Maximillius, Hot Rod and my favourite, Chilli Dog.

After all the puppies had their turn, it's time for the big boys.

Ready, Get Set ...
GO!!!
